NYC webinar, Part II

Feb 26, 2013 in Webinar

Text complexity looms large in the Common Core State Standards and vocabulary is a critical contributor to text complexity.  In this second of a two-part series, Dr. Elfrieda (Freddy) Hiebert builds on the content of Part 1 to describe the nature of vocabulary lessons with literary texts (i.e., narrative texts and texts in magazines).  One type of vocabulary lesson addresses strategies for dealing with particular types of words (e.g., compound words, proper names).  The second type of vocabulary lesson focuses on the words in specific texts.
