About
As we build from recent learning loss and adapt to a virtual context, we must focus our attention on helping students increase knowledge through vocabulary acquisition. Core vocabulary words are critical for children to comprehend texts, communicate effectively, and become independent thinkers. As students learn the distinctive and nuanced meanings represented by words and make connections about how words work, they become better readers with enriched vocabulary. Words connect concepts to ideas, ideas to knowledge, and ultimately connect children to the world around them.
