The Common Core State Standards: What Does it Mean? How Can We Make it Happen?

For the first time in a standards document, the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) includes a specific standard that attends to the difficulty of text at different levels. The goal of this standard is for high school graduates to be proficient with the texts of college and careers. To attain this goal, text levels have been accelerated with acceleration starting in the primary grades. This presentation addresses how educators can ensure that struggling readers are supported in the face of accelerating text levels.
