Free Student Texts

Free texts for reading instruction! TextProject is the sole website with free texts based on the science of reading. The TExT model underlying our texts has been validated through scientific research. Texts are available for beginning readers to middle-school students who need support in automaticity and vocabulary.

For programs such as BeginningReaders and FYI for Kids, world-renowned researcher and teacher educator, Patricia Cunningham, has written lessons to accompany the texts.

TopicReads is an evidence-based set of texts that support vocabulary, background knowledge, and comprehension for struggling, middle-school readers. Texts become progressively harder across the 6 levels, from an emphasis on the 600 most frequent root words at Level A to Level F, where all 2,500 root word families that make up 90% of all the words in texts appear. The texts are available in two formats: downloadable PDFs or ebooks. Read More »TopicReads
